Wow, what a year it’s been! This year has seen a number of developments for us, from projects reaching completion, to exciting new projects, to new staff members joining our team. Here we’ve brought together some of our highlights of 2022.
On the project front, this year saw the completion of the SWLEP Business Cyber Centre, the first of its kind in the UK. Following its opening in May, this incredible project was awarded Fit-Out/Refurbishment of the Year at the Insider South West Property Awards. It’s brilliant to see this project in use and fulfilling its purpose.
Another milestone we’re extremely proud of is Chippenham’s climbing centre The Arc reaching completion after 6 years of hard work, which ran throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. After opening in February and proving hugely popular with the local community, The Arc was named Place-making Project of the Year, also at the Insider South West Property Awards.

Among various other projects reaching completion this year, we also saw the opening of new Bristol restaurant venue The Forge & Fern in July, which won the Commercial Development award at the Bristol Property Awards.
With a number of works in progress and more potential projects in the pipeline, we’re looking forward to continuing our work and seeing what the next year will bring. In an industry that’s quite literally always developing, there’s never a dull day!
In other news, we’ve had some staff achievements to celebrate too this year. Our Senior Architect Paul received his 20-year service award, and both Paul and Senior Project Manager Edd have been promoted to Directors in recognition of the hard work and dedication they each bring to CMS.
We also welcomed Sophie, Kelly and Emily to our growing team. Sophie joined CMS Architects as an Architectural Assistant, Kelly has taken on our marketing and quality management, and Emily is our new Interior Designer. It was also great to welcome Leila back after completing her MSc in Conservation of Historic Buildings. With nearly half of our team being female, we are proud of having such a diverse, talented team who contribute so much.

Talking of celebrating our team, we’ll next year be celebrating our 35th anniversary as a company! We can’t believe it’s been 34 years already and are so grateful to our team, our wonderful clients, and everyone we work with for making it such a great journey so far. CMS wouldn’t be what it is today without you! Here’s to many more successful years ahead.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas and New Year. All the very best for 2023 from the CMS team.
