CMS Group has reestablished itself in Gloucester with a new office in Quedgeley, following an increase in project work and client liaison in the area.

It’s been some 15 years since CMS had an active office in Gloucester. Back then, a small team worked in an office in Brunswick Square. We recently took a trip to revisit our old building and found it looking beautiful and well-kept, now as a residential dwelling.

Since then, CMS has operated from its head office in Corsham, Wiltshire.  Alongside continuing delivery of our services from Corsham, we have made the decision to return to having a physical presence in Gloucester as well, to service and promote relationships with existing and new potential clients.

Gloucester projects over the years

Since CMS was established over 35 years ago, we have had the privilege of working on numerous projects on Gloucester.

Our primary involvement being in the health sector, we have worked on some 20 projects for Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust and 2Gether NHS Foundation Trust, now collectively known as Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.

These works included ward refurbishments at Gloucester Hospital and Cheltenham Hospital as well as specialised mental health facilities. Combined with our work on other health care premises such as the £1m extension of Stoke Road Surgery, we have enjoyed the opportunity to work on projects of all scales.

Furthermore, our experience in the Gloucester area also spans private education with CMS Architects designing a new boarding facility for Westonbirt School, and retail with CMS working on the complete refurbishment and fit-out of the thriving Chadbury Farm Shop.

Works completed on Gloucester Food Dock

More recently, we last year completed work on the £2 million Gloucester Food Dock located in Victoria Basin.

Originally the Docks Offices and the Old Navigation House, the site was refurbished and extended and is now home to 14 independent food and drink businesses. CMS acted as Project Managers on the project in connection with the building’s new extensions and public realm area.

The project saw the mid-19th century four-storey dockside building restored, preserving exquisite old beams, wooden banisters, exposed brickwork and rediscovered arches and alcoves. The building also has a modern ambiance, brought to life by colourful tiling, sophisticated lighting, and wood-panelled walls among other features.

With abundant natural light, terraces, social spaces and stunning views across the docks, Gloucester Food Dock has quickly become a superb destination for foodies in the region. In the pipeline since 2016, the result was worth the wait!
