At CMS Group, we are supporting a team of amazing men who will be rowing across the Atlantic in 2024 to raise awareness of Lyme disease and raise funds for Lyme Disease UK.
The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Challenge will see Niall, John and Sam row 3,000 miles from the Canary Islands to Antigua, battling waves up to 20ft high. Starting in December 2024, they’ll be rowing for 2 hours then sleeping for 2 hours constantly, 24 hours a day, for six weeks. We can’t imagine how physically and mentally fatiguing this will be!
Why, you might wonder?
John’s daughter Yasmin sadly has chronic Lyme disease after having been bitten by a tic four years ago, making this cause very close to the team’s hearts. Lyme disease is the most common tick-borne infectious disease in the northern hemisphere, endemic in many parts of the UK.
We welcomed John into the CMS office recently to talk to us about the challenge and why the cause is so important to them. His passion for raising awareness and vital funds was clear and we’re pleased to be supporting this worthy cause.
Since being founded in 2013, the LDUK team have been working to advance awareness, diagnosis, and treatment of Lyme disease in the UK. They deliver an annual Wake Up to Lyme awareness campaign, develop resources for patients and medical professionals, attend and exhibit at conferences, and much more.
We’re pleased to be supporting Niall, John, Sam and the amazing LDUK team by raising vital funds, all of which will go directly to the charity. If you would like to contribute towards our goal, we would greatly appreciate any donation you are able to give, large or small. Every little really does make a difference.
