CMS recently provided Quantity Surveying, Contract Administration and Architectural services for the refurbishment of Bluemay’s existing factory building, which manufactures high-quality injection moulded plastic items for aerospace use.

The project involved installation of a new mezzanine floor to create additional office space, along with a new public entrance at ground floor level with an associated staircase. Some external works were also required to enhance visitor experience.

Challenges were presented by the need to create new window openings within the existing structure. The project was also carried out in a live environment with operations continuing throughout construction, which necessitated carefully considered phasing and management of site logistics.

A key focus was improvement of energy usage, which was achieved through the installation of photovoltaic cells.

The project was fast-tracked in nature, delivered efficiently ahead of time and within budget.
