Box Primary School
Our works on Box Primary School, a Grade II listed Victorian school, involved the addition of a mezzanine floor to create a new classroom and reposition the reception to a more central location within the school. This created a much more usable space for the Head Teacher’s office and an additional teaching area within the old reception.
The scheme restored the existing features of the building by removing the suspended ceiling thus exposing the timber trusses and creating a large full-height entrance hall providing a grand arrival befitting of a Victorian school.
In the new classroom, the trusses are exposed to add to the character of the space. Glass-fronted light wells created over the windows allow light into the classroom without effecting the external appearance of the building.
