PROJECT SUMMARY

CMS Project Managers & Surveyors were appointed to provide Project Management, Contract Administration, Quantity Surveying and Building Surveying services to SWLEP for the refurbishment and upgrade works to Unit 7 Greenways Business Park, Chippenham.

The works comprised a full dilapidation survey, procurement of initial stripout works, a fully revised internal partition layout and renewal of the existing M&E installations, along with the upgrade of the building facilities to current standards for compliance. Furniture, fi xtures, and fi ttings in accordance with SWLEP interior design was provided by Wylde Interior Architects.

The new Business Cyber Centre has been a huge success and was awarded Fit-out/Refurbishment of the Year at the 2022 Insider Southwest Property
Awards.

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS

The challenges faced were principally the time frame for the proposed works to be completed within the Financial Year as set by the funding source.

Lead periods for specialist items had to be managed as soon as funding approval was secured.

The strip-out works uncovered an array of unknown services and instability of existing raised access floor that had to be rectifi ed during the works.

Soundproofing between rooms had carefully considered and detailed to project below the raised access fl oor and above the suspended ceilings, structure to structure to ensure continuity.
