Gloucester Road Medical Centre

CMS Group have worked with Gloucester Road Medical Centre since 1997 as they have grown the practice to serve some 14,000 patients from their purpose-built premises.

The centre was built on a particularly unique site which was formerly a tram station, two lengths of tramway still existing within the car park. CMS provided Architectural, Project Management and Quantity Surveying services for the design and delivery of the surgery building, followed by further extensions to facilitate expansion.

Most recently, CMS provided the roles of Architect, Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor and Principal Designers on a complex development and significant expansion of the existing centre following closure of neighbouring surgeries. This comprised the addition of a new storey providing five consulting rooms, a meeting space, a new entrance, and an expanded waiting area. A two-storey rear extension was also created, providing four treatment suites and admin space.

The construction stage of this latest development took place during the Covid-19 pandemic and proceeded with a fully considered phased programme, whilst maintaining no loss of service to patients.
