King Edwards School – The Rose & Sixth Form

The Rose & Sixth Form Centre

CMS PM&S were appointed to act as Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors for the successful development of the new Drama Centre, which incorporated a drama studio, a mini performance hall and two academic classrooms with acoustic sliding sub-partitions to create a flexible teaching environment.

The project was undertaken on the school’s main access route, requiring detailed pre-planning and review throughout. A late client instruction was also received for the introduction for a LAMDA room, which was successfully incorporated into the required planning permission within the original contract duration.

This project facilitated the relocation of the existing drama department, which was demolished and incorporated into the second project of the new sixth form extension and refurbishment. Both projects required extensive pre-contract consultation with the Design Team and investigative surveys to ensure that risks were mitigated and disruption to academic activities were minimal.
