CMS PM&S were commission to act as Project managers & Quantity Surveyors for the redevelopment of Denmark Hall into Redland Hall as it is now known. As part of the PM function CMS procured the rest of the design team, with Stride Treglown being appointed as Architects for Stages 0-3, following a gap in the development programme was stage 4-6 were undertaken by MEG Architects.
The construction phase was undertaken following a 2-stage tender process and Rydon Construction were subsequently appointed to undertake the construction phase.
This £4m development required the demolition of the existing structure including extensive asbestos containing materials removal followed by the new build phase, in a ‘live’ environment and adjacent to an occupied building. Careful pre-construction consideration had to be given to the programming and phasing of the works along with the construction detailing at the interfaces with the adjacent buildings.
The development is considered successful in its provision of providing and increasing the school academic facilities whilst combining this with a multi-functional space for Music, Drama, Assemblies and external use by the committee for functions and performance concerts
