Spectrum Housing Association
Since 2010, CMS Architects have worked with Western Challenge Housing Association, who are part of the Spectrum Housing Association Group specialising in providing supported independent living for people with learning disabilities and difficulties.
We have provided Architectural services on numerous projects in the Bristol area, with most projects comprising remodelling and refurbishment of their existing buildings together with new-build developments as either an extension or independent unit within the site.
Due to the sensitivities of use, these projects have presented challenges to obtain planning approval, which was overcome by early public consultation and stakeholder engagement. Key performance indicators for the projects were compliance with Code for Sustainable Homes, Secure by Design, Lifetime Homes, Building for Life, and the National Housing Federation standards, all within restricted and sensitive sites.
Ranging in value from £600k to £1.4m, the projects included both traditional and low-key solutions to striking contemporary designs, which created a vibrant, inclusive community and a real sense of place and ownership for the occupants upon returning to their new homes after completion.
