What aspects of your job do you enjoy the most and why?

One of the most enjoyable and also challenging and rewarding aspects of the job is the wide range of projects CMS get involved with, from small works to Grade I Listed Buildings to large new build Retirement Villages and almost everything in between. We also work within the whole RIBA Work Stages seeing projects through from site identification to completion. I particularly enjoy that CMS is a multi-discipline company so I have access to Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors along with the Technologists, Landscape Architects and Interior Designers within our own team which can be utilised to benefit the project.

Most exciting project to have been involved in?

There have been many great projects over my time at CMS all comprising varying challenges however one that was particularly rewarding was the development at Corsham Primary School, local to our offices. This project provided a new entrance to the school, admin space, a new library, and new classrooms built with sustainable design principals at the core. It was constructed of clay blocks, highly insulated and airtight to create stimulating spaces for learning whilst being extremely energy efficient and low carbon. With the project being so close to the office I often visit the school to see how the spaces are performing and the project has become a great marketing tool for CMS with several further education projects following its success.

Proudest achievement at work?

Paul is very proud of his career progression within CMS, joining as an Architectural Assistant a long time ago to now be in a position which helps guide the companies direction and pass on knowledge to the younger staff in what always has and continues to be a people focused practice. Here are a selection of some of projects where CMS have provided an architectural role…
