Finance Manager

CMS are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our team here in Corsham, initially part time, with a view to developing to a full-time independent role.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing all financial processing systems including sales and purchase ledger
  • Payroll, Cash & Bank, general ledger
  • Quarterly VAT returns and P11D submissions
  • Responsibility for the Finance IT systems (Quickbooks) – both infrastructure and application
  • Sales and purchase ledger
  • Producing monthly Management Reports including P&L forecasting and cash flow forecasting
  • Group ad hoc reporting on KPIs
  • Managing the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting cycles
  • Managing the year end audit process and preparation of statutory accounts
  • Preparation of financial information for third parties (e.g., banks)
  • Treasury management
  • Capital asset management
  • Supporting the leadership team and board in determining financial strategy
  • Providing and interpreting financial information
  • Formulating strategic and long-term business plans
  • Researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance
  • Developing financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk
  • Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost reduction opportunities
  • Managing financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems
  • Liaising with auditors to ensure annual monitoring is carried out
  • Developing external relationships with appropriate contacts e.g. auditors, solicitors, bankers, and statutory organisations such as the Inland Revenue
  • Producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines
  • Managing budgets
  • Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation

Required skills and experience:

  • AAT Level 3, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA qualified
  • Experience in producing month-end accounts
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills coupled with experience of Quickbooks
  • Previous experience of improving/updating systems would be advantageous
  • Commercial and business awareness
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • An analytical approach to work
  • High numeracy and sound technical skills
  • Problem solving skills and initiative
  • Strong attention to detail and an investigative nature
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise
  • The ability to work as part of a team and build strong working relationships
  • Good IT skills

Finance Assistant

CMS are looking for a part-time Finance Assistant to join our team here in Corsham, reporting to the Finance Manager.

We will support your development and training, and there is the potential for funded study support, including study leave. This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for career development in a finance role.

Working at CMS will provide you with great experience and exposure to the wider business. You will develop skills and experience across a broad range of finance activities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Finance Manager with the month-end process
  • Supporting the Finance Manager to ensure a consistent control environment
  • Managing the company timesheet software and providing reports
  • Producing reports for the Directors’ monthly invoicing
  • Producing quarterly reports for Board meetings
  • Managing project cashflow on company Secured Workload Schedule
  • Assisting Directors and Marketing Manager with the financial aspect of fee proposals

Required skills and experience:

  • Part qualified or working towards a finance qualification (e.g. AAT, CIMA)
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Experience using accounting systems
